ABOUT US

Farmer's Helpers, LLC

at Chip-in Farm

Chip-In Farm was named in 1944 when members of the Couvee family “chipped in” to purchase a small farm in Bedford. A visit to the farm today brings you back to a simpler time when food was local and farms were family run. The Farmer's Helpers program offers an authentic, process-based, and hands-on farm experience for the next generation. Through Farmer's Helpers participants are given the chance to develop confidence, build community, and learn to become better stewards of their land and environment.

Sandy has been connecting kids to Chip-in Farm for over 15 years. She knows that the farm offers a unique full-sensory experience, which makes it the perfect classroom for kids! Sandy has a Massachusetts EEC infant/toddler and preschool certification and has worked as a preschool teacher. She strives to create a space of acceptance, connection, and community at Chip-in Farm for everyone of any age and any ability. Sandy was honored as a "Featured Woman in Agriculture" by the Pink Tractor Magazine in 2018. Her favorite farm animals are the cows!

Julia grew up in Bedford with frequent visits to Chip-in Farm. She is passionate about getting kids outside and connected to the farm, nature, and their community and recently completed a certificate in Nature-based Early Childhood Education at Antioch. Julia is moving on from her Educational Programs Coordinator role at the farm, but will still be poking around and helping out as needed! She will be back on the farm for visits and to sub in for classes and is excited to watch the educational programs continue to grow and thrive.
Sam joined our team as the Educational Programs Coordinator in January 2022. Sam is from southern Massachusetts and just moved to the Boston area. She graduated with an Environmental Science degree from Stonehill College in May 2021 and is passionate about the connecting the community with the environment. While at Stonehill, Sam volunteered with The Farm on campus to provide freshly grown produce to local communities. She's excited to learn, grow, and get involved with all Chip-in Farm has to offer!

Harrison’s passion with farm animals started through visits as a toddler at the Chip-In Farm petting zoo. Currently he is a student at Bedford High School and is an active member in both the Bedford Farmers 4-H club and Good Shepherd’s Sheep club. Harrison helps out with various activities including the after school programs (hired hands), travel events, and summer camp.
Eva has spent the majority of her life involved with animals and agriculture. Eva has been riding and caring for horses since the age of 9, and has been caring for livestock since the age of 11. Eva credits many of her life skills to having the opportunity to work with animals. In June of 2021, Eva graduated from the Equine Science Program at Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical High School. Eva is an active member of 4-H and FFA. Eva looks forward to connecting with each child that participates in activities at Chip-in Farm and sharing her love for animals and agriculture with others!

She enjoys getting in the dirt and working in the sun! Emily has previous experience as a preschool teacher and is currently an EMT at a private ambulance service. Currently living in Lowell, in her free time Emily enjoys bike riding, drawing, and caring for her plants. Emily loves to create and is eager to share this energy with the farmers at Chip-in Farm!
